CARE GUIDE-APPLIANCES 04-HOB

MAYER MMIH603FZ (Induction Hob)

Tenant Usage + Upkeep Guide

1️⃣ Daily Usage – What Tenants MUST Follow

1. Use ONLY induction-compatible cookware

Must have:

Flat base

Induction symbol

Magnetic bottom (tenants can test with a magnet)

No cheap warped pots/pans → they cause clicking, uneven heating, overheating sensors.

2. Place cookware at the center before turning on

Induction requires pan contact with the zone.
If misaligned → hob shuts off.

3. Start with medium heat (“5–7”)

High heat (“8–9”) should only be used short bursts for boiling.

Reason:

Protects internal coils

Prevents glass overheating

Reduces electrical load

4. Lift cookware — do NOT drag

Dragging causes:

Fine scratches

Deep scratches

Shortens glass lifespan

Long term = glass replacement ($200–$350).

5. Wipe immediately after cooking

Induction glass stains from:

Oil

Sugar

Salt

Spills

Sauces

Use:

Microfiber cloth

Mild dish soap

No abrasives

2️⃣ Weekly Care – Tenant Responsibilities

Clean with induction-safe cream (Cera-Clean / Cif Cream)

Use soft sponge → wipe dry.

Check cookware base

No burnt residue.
No dents or warps — replace cookware.

Remove burnt marks early

Older burns = permanent stains = chargeable.

3️⃣ Critical “DO NOT” Rules (Non-Negotiable)

Do NOT place hot pots from hob onto cold wet surface

Causes thermal shock, cracks the glass.

Do NOT put empty pan and heat it

Induction heats instantly, empty pan can reach 300°C in minutes → glass breaks.

Do NOT overload or place weight on glass

Tenants often put:

Rice cooker

Air fryer

Water kettles

Grocery bags

Heavy bowls

Hob glass is NOT a countertop → will crack.

Do NOT use wok rings

No curved wok usage — only flat-base induction woks.
Rings damage the glass + sensors.

Do NOT put aluminium foil on hob

Foil becomes molten metal instantly on induction → damages zones permanently.

Do NOT use abrasive scrubbing pads

Black glass scratches permanently.

Do NOT slam cookware down

Impact cracks are the #1 cause of replacements.

4️⃣ Troubleshooting Guide

1. Hob Beeping / Not Heating

Common causes:

Wrong pan (not induction-compatible)

Pan too small

Pan not centered

Pan warped

Water/food on glass near sensors

Tenant action:
➡️ Clean and dry hob
➡️ Use correct pan

2. Hob Shuts Off Mid-Cooking

Caused by:

Overheating

Vent blocked

Pan too hot / empty

Wrong cookware

Tenant action:
➡️ Turn off, let cool 5–10 mins
➡️ Remove obstructions
➡️ Retry

3. Error Codes (E2, E4, etc.)

This usually relates to:

Temperature sensor fault

Coil overheating

Internal thermal protection

Tenant action:
➡️ Switch off
➡️ Allow cooldown
➡️ Notify landlord

4. Burnt smell

Caused by:

Food residue under pot

Oil spills burning

Overheated cookware

Tenant action:
➡️ Clean glass after cooling
➡️ Reduce heat settings
